Introduction
Junyan Liu
Born in Wuhan, China, Junyan moved to France on her own at the age of seventeen.
At twenty-one, during her final semester at the Law School of Sciences Po Paris, she encountered the poetry of Fernando Pessoa. This marked a departure from her previous trajectory and the beginning of an inward exploration, grounded in embodied practice within everyday life.
Within a decade-long inquiry, writing has become an essential part of this exploration—a pathless path. She writes bilingually in Chinese and English, with a particular affinity for poetry and prose. Her language is shaped by long-term immersion in French and German.
She currently lives between Vienna and the Austrian Alps, dwelling between culture and nature.
