A trauma-informed, ecologically rooted practice for restoring safety, coherence, and belonging
The Protected Cove corresponds to the ventral vagal state — the place where the organism perceives enough safety to
rest, repair, relate, and learn.
Ecological Polyvagal Theory teaches us that the nervous system is not an isolated mechanism inside a body —
it is an ecosystem, responding to internal weather, relational climate, and environmental cues.
This ritual guides OUR group back into this weatherzone.

It is not only a somatic reset.
It is a re-entry into a biological habitat —
a return to the inner shoreline where our system knows how to settle.

Why We Return to EARTH
When unsynchronized energy is encountered in a group, each nervous system briefly shifts climate:
Stormen (sympathetic) → mobilization
Vinterisen (dorsal) → conservation or collapse
Protected Cove (ventral) → connection and curiosity
Returning to the Cove is the ecological equivalent of a species returning to its nesting ground after disruption.
The organism comes home to the conditions under which it naturally thrives:
warmth, coherence, relational softness, and environmental predictability.
